Critics Consensus

It has a game, great-looking cast, led by the always worthwhile Daniel Day-Lewis, but Rob Marshall's Nine is chaotic and curiously distant.

Korra N Half-baked and void of any real emotion or depth, NINE isn't a bad movie, but it's not that good either. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review James R Fantastic! NINE is an audacious, sexy, sleek feast of a movie. Dances beyond the limits of what a musical can be. The story of Guido Contini's life and legacy is so inviting, and each female cast member grabs their chance to shine and steals the show. Everything is stylish and beautiful throughout the film, leading up to a semi-tragic ending and a surreal closing scene that will leave you deep in thought. One to watch again and again. Musical cinema at its very best! Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Antony P I just adore this movie.. sick of all the negative Nancy and moaning Myrtles.. also these women are the best actress singers I have ever heard, I do realise fergie is an actual musician so wasn't talking about her.. but her song is great Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Audience Member I love DDL. I've seen everything he's ever done. This movie disappointed me almost as much as his retirement. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Rob Marshall's musical follow-up to his award-winning "Chicago" furthers re-enforced his sensationally dazzling knack for adapting faithfully the theatrical production value by the grasped sense, through an intriguing story under full circle and electrifying performances when radiating raw emotions. However, the impact seemingly continued his previous cinematic flaw of focusing on the main dazzlements over fulfilling nuances, particularly lesser chemistries, and elliptical seductions. (B) Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Liam D While not as good as it's inspirations but it's a decent watch Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/02/22 Full Review Read all reviews
