Hear that? It's ice cream pizza calling! This easy ice cream pizza recipe is a fun and delicious ice cream dessert the whole family will enjoy!

We are an unabashed ice cream house. We eat it in the summer when it's hot and cuddled under blankets in the winter when it's cold. We've eaten it since our kids were young and we'll eat it when they're old.

I love ice cream so much that it makes me rhyme!

This year, my daughter asked for a Treatzza Pizza from DQ as a birthday cake. Wouldn't you know it... Her favourite mom's first job was at DQ, and I knew how to make Treatzza Pizzas!

We got down to business!

Tips + Tricks

No. 1 --> Use vanilla vanilla. Not french vanilla, just plain old vanilla! This is a personal preference thing, but DQ ice cream has such a delicate vanilla flavour that anything stronger fights with the crust and the candy flavour.

No. 2 --> Don't have a springform pan, use a pizza pan, they'll both work!

No. 3 --> Avoid letting the ice cream soften too much. I like to make sure it's melted enough to be spread smoothly, but after that, it's straight to the freezer to avoid it getting too hard once refrozen.

How to make ice cream pizza

  1. Remove the creme from all of the Oreo cookies. I like to twist each cookie apart, which usually sees the creme stuck to one cookie, then scrape it with a knife.
  2. Using a pastry cutter with solid tines or a potato masher, crush the cookies in a medium-sized stainless steel bowl. The cookies should be crushed but not powder. Leave some texture.
  3. Add the Smucker's chocolate sauce to the cookies and toss them to coat. Mix until completely combined.
  4. Spread the cookie base onto the bottom of a springform pan. I like to use a 10" pan. I also like to place a layer of parchment underneath the cookie layer for easy removal when ready to cut the ice cream pizza.
  5. Place the cookie crust in the freezer for 10-15 minutes, in the meantime, remove the ice cream from the freezer and allow to thaw slightly. scoop ice cream into a bowl, and stir it vigorously until it's smooth and spreadable.
  6. While the cookie crust is freezing and the ice cream is thawing, prepare your toppings. I used Reese's peanut butter cups, so I chopped those and collected my Reece's pieces.
  7. Once the crust is firmed up, scoop ice cream into a bowl, and stir it vigorously until it's smooth and spreadable. Remove the crust from the freezer and spread a healthy layer of ice cream on top.
  8. Top with desired candy topping and place in the freezer until ready to serve.
